Cloak of the Elements
Conjuration (Summoning)
Level: Drd 3
Components: V, S, F
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: Personal
Target: 1 non-magical cloak
Duration: 3 rounds/level
Saving Throw: None
Spell Resistance: No
This powerful spell calls upon the power of the elemental planes to aid the priest. It converts his or her non-magical cloak into the essense of one of the elemental planes - air, earth, fire, or water.
The appearance of the altered cloak depends on the element called upon. Air causes the cloak to become white, with silver streaks running through it. Earth makes it brown with streaks of gold. Fire is red with orange streaks. Water is blue with green streaks.
While in effect, the casting druid gains several benefits. He or she gains the ability to speak to elemental creatures that the cloak is attuned to. The druid gains a +2 deflection bonus against attacks made from beings of the opposite sub-type and a +2 resistance bonus to saving throws versus spells and powers of the opposite type from the cloak. The cloak also prevents bodily contact by creatures of the opposite elemental type as the cloak, although attacks or contact initiated by the druid ends this part of the spell.
In addition to the protection from harm granted by the cloak, the caster also gains extra ability when summoning creatures from the matching elemental plane. The durations of such summonings performed while under the effects of this spell are no longer limited to the normal 1 round per level. They now match the duration of the cloak of elements, ending instead when the cloak returns to normal.
Focus: The casting druid's non-magical cloak, which must be worn for the entire duration of the spell. Premature removal of the cloak instantly ends the spell.
