Drake, Black
A relative of the vile black dragon, the black drake is a smaller version, more wild and much less intelligent. They are viscious loners that never share territory except to mate. They are always an inky black in color. They rarely fly, as their wings are not strong enough for sustained flight.Black drakes live in any type of dank swamp, preferring dark waters they can hide in while submerged. They typically lair in caves with the entrance hidden under water. Black drakes are voracious eaters, but with their immense territories they can usually remain in the same areas their entire lives. They are abandoned after hatching to survive on their own. Combat: When attacking, black drakes will usually use their breath weapon before closing to make use of their sharp claws and teeth, striking with each once per round. They rarely flee battle, even when faced with death. Breath Weapon (Ex): Each black drake is able to spit a stream of caustic acid, up to once per minute, at a single creature. This stream is a foot in diameter and up to 20' long, causing 2d4 points of damage (Reflex save DC: 14 for half) per round for up to 6 rounds. Immersion in water will end the acid damage. Acid Immunity (Ex): Black drakes are totally immune to damage from any type of acid. Water Breathing (Ex): Black drakes have the ability to breath water, which helps them in surprizing their prey. Spell Resistance (Ex): Black drakes are resistant to magical spells and effects, due to their draconic heritage. They have spell resistance 10.
