News and Updates Archive (2007): December 9, 2007: - Eliminated an XP farming method for followers of Ragnor and Sorgath. Now go forth and explore! November 14, 2007: - Update Status Report: The update is progressing. Here are some of the things in the works:
November 8, 2007: - Work has begun on adding new resources to the World of Aenea (new glowing eyes, new horns, new spells, new visual effects). When ready, this will require a new hak file, which will become available for download a week before the update. October 28, 2007: - Altered the polymorph self and shapechange spells. You no longer need the shape crystals, since there was a problem with making them function properly. Casting either of these spells will now pull up a conversation to select your new form. - There are now several magical books that allow the reader to cast new spells one or more times per day. Different books work for different classes. October 23, 2007: - Wizard and sorcerers can now celebrate! When such characters cast a beneficial duration spell on themselves, it will usually also affect their familiars with the same casting. Finally, protection for those valuable familiars without using up half the caster's supply of spells! October 20, 2007: - A new merchant has set up his wagon right next to Farmer Joe and his pumpkins. - Portrait Pack 1 will be available for download as soon as it is approved at the Vault. Check the downloads page to see what's in this optional package of 60 portraits. October 11, 2007: - Added a few new areas southwest of Lumin Pier in the Kingdom of Light. - Added a couple of new items that when held will detect certain types of creatures (one detects orcs, the other detects undead). These two items are just lying around for anyone to pick up. October 7, 2007: - Altered demon spawn abilities slightly: added 25% immunity to fire divine damage vulnerability added (50%) - Vampires and wolf bloods will want to beware of the Silver Stalkers, a group dedicated to ridding the world of what they call "the Impure." October 6, 2007: - Altered vampire abilities slightly: negative energy resistance 30 changed to 100% negative energy immunity divine damage vulnerability added (50%) additional strength and charisma are now gained only at night - Adjusted amount of XP regained due to sacrifices to your deity (when returning to life after dying). Now a minimum of 10% if you have been sacrificing enough. - Fixed issue with blood dropping with 90% of vampire kills rather than the intended 10% of the time. - Added new icons for various effects on PCs. Thanks to Mordaedil and his Immunity Icons he posted on the Vault for the idea (go vote for his excellent submission). Download the newest version of the AeneaResources0y.hak file. While you can play the game without the newer version, you would not be able to see the changes. September 30, 2007: - Altered alignment shifting when paladins and clerics fight undead. September 29, 2007: - Updated some background scripts to increase efficiency. More areas to explore in the works. August 9, 2007: - Fixed atonement at altars problem. - Fixed altars to Kalas not IDing items. - Fixed altars to Mystara not recharging Contracts of Translocation. - Fixed transition north of Mountainholm Castle. Removed on in Forge Pass. Fixed door to Blackfoot's place in Mountainholm Castle. - Fixed XP Debt bug when logging out if remaining in the Great Hall after dying. - Added sentence to website deity page as a reminder. Some granted abilities do require you wear the focusing holy symbol of your deity. - Some encounter adjustments are in the works. Some will spawn creatures farther from the PCs, others will scale farther with more powerful enemies. - Thanks for the feedback, folks. You help keep Aenea growing and improving. July 27, 2007: - The new World of Aenea GUI overhaul/upgrade is now available for download here. July 18, 2007: - There is a new version of the AeneaResources0y.hak file available for download. Please download this new version so that you can view the latest custom content. While you can play the game without the newer version, you would not be able to see the changes: Upgraded icons (spells, feats, skills, classes (druid), radial menu) New custom DM appearance (a unique amethyst dragon appearance, just for the DM) - Coming soon: a custom World of Aenea GUI update. July 12, 2007: - Finished adding a new quest (designed for groups with at least 1 wizard). - Updated some background scripts. June 26, 2007: - Polymorph Self and Shapechange spells should now be fixed. - For those hurt by sunlight, there is now a way to quickly reach sanctuary. It can be costly, but much healthier than dying in the light. Look in the graveyard to find what you seek. - Wolfbloods and vampires might now have difficulty picking up silver objects. - Vampires and drow now have darkvision. - New "beginner's guide" has just been added to the web site. June 20, 2007: - The quest to find Farmer Mard's daughter has been fixed so that characters of higher than 3rd level can now undertake it. - The quest to join the League of Extraordinary Adventurers should now be fixed. - The League is once again sending out mercenaries (hireling NPCs) with those that can pay. - The Amethyst Dragon is back from vacation. Server is back up (after is was accidently shut down for 2 days). June 4, 2007: - Healer's Kits no longer work while in combat. They were never intended to replace potions, wands, scrolls, and spells of healing. They function the same as before when outside of battle. - The Temple of Life in Valorian's Vale now sells wands of healing magic. - The Amethyst Dragon starts a 2-week hiatus (without daily internet access) on June 6th. June 2, 2007: - New area added to the Underdark for those wanting to learn more about beholders... - The cloak of shadows now protects drow gear used outside during the day. - Certain areas may now be limited in the number of times you can enter them. This is to promote exploration of the world and discourage "farming". If you die in such an area, you can reenter without penalty (to get a chance to defeat the thing that killed you). The first such areas are the Temple of Sorgath in the Northwest Prairie and the tunnels under Farmer Mard's barn. - You can now have your weapons, armor, or shield enhanced (for extra attacking ability or AC) within the dwarven town of Forge (in Rockholm). You will need Blood of Magic stones, and making any change to your item will override any previous enhancement bonus on it (so only enhance your +4 sword if you have at least 50 stones, else it may become less powerful). May 28, 2007: - Fixed an issue where Kerril would not pay for a couple of jobs he had given. - Modified the darkfire spell. It will now simply add 1d6 fire damage plus 1 negative energy damage per 2 caster levels (maximum +10). - Fixed a few minor bugs. May 27, 2007: - Added a new section to the Rules & Info page that lists the changes for the different subraces. - Added a new NPC in He' Levan that can grant a bonus to Craft Armor and Craft Weapon skills for a few minutes to aid in altering the appearance of PC gear. May 20, 2007: - Added subrace info to the website (see Rules & info page). - Fixed a couple more granted spells. Others are in progress. - Added a new quest to the town hall. - Changed wings/tails for demon spawns and winged beings so they now gain skin/hair/tattoo colors (see screenshot). May 16, 2007: - Retested clerical granted spells, found some that no longer work. Some are fixed, others are in progress. - Removed Sun Sphere and Moon Sphere from Smitty's Shoppe. A Time Stone will do all the work now of the three before. May 11, 2007: - Fixed a bug that removed some special benefits from clerics upon resting. - There is a new merchant in the Docks of Macedone that deals in "questionably acquired goods". - Fixed to town names on the world map and added towns on the way to the old city of Alatha. May 9, 2007: - It now gets cold outside in winter...wear a cloak to protect yourself from the freezing air (or find magic to protect you). - There is now a land route to reach the old city of Alatha. Work your way north through K'Nort Scrar to get there. April 26, 2007: - New seasonal weather system added. It should now sometimes snow in many places in winter (but there will still be grass on the ground), and rain sometimes during other parts of the year. Some streams will be just above freezing in winter, making it dangerous to just stand in them. - Many flaming weapons now produce light equal to a torch (as they should have from the start). The flame weapon spell also works this way now. - The server setting has been changed to Full PvP. This was done mostly to allow various spells/curses/etc. to force a PC to attack another, plus it allows for role-play of conflict. There are rules to govern this, so read the Rules board at the Sleeping Dragon Inn. April 12, 2007: - Persistent item storage has been added. For only 50,000 gp, Arkon will give a character access to his/her own Ethereal Chest that can store almost 72,000 pounds of items. April 11, 2007: - The Big Update is up and running! April 4, 2007: - The Big Update will take effect April 11th (in one week). - The new hak file and updated tlk file are now online. Check the downloads page for details. - Drop a note in the forum if you have suggestions for the update (or for any time after). March 28, 2007: - Reduced the size of the AeneaResources02.hak file by removing ACP (the Alternative Combat Animations). If you re-download this particular file, it will fix the stiff cloak issue that several people (those playing female humans/elves/etc.) have had. See the downloads page for links to the new file and the optional override for using the animations. - Updated the web site with new colors, images, and information (see NPC page). Images with the borders now lead to screenshots. - Only 1 more feat bug to work out, a couple more cloak models to add, and the new files will be ready to download. This means the update will be ready very soon. March 25, 2007: - New feats are in the works, and are being tested to work out the bugs. So far, so good. The changes will be ready soon. March 6, 2007: - Screenshots of some of the new cloaks can be found here, here, and here. There are more cloaks already done and others still in the works. Just one of the additions coming with the Big Update... March 1, 2007: - New updates additions will not take effect for a little bit. A Big Update is in the works, based on a version of the module saved a couple of days ago. Some things that will be in this update: - Update to CEP 2.0 - More than 30 completely original cloak designs - Improved in-game world map with higher resolution and better info points - More new critters to encounter and/or slay - Bug fixes - New songs for bards so they can solo adventure more easily - This Big Update will require a new hak file and tlk file. Those will become available at least a week before the update goes live. February 22, 2007: - Sacrificial Flame can now be used on multiple remains at once by targeting yourself. - Mercenaries can now be hired in Mountainholm Castle through the League of Extraordinary Adventurers. - Streamlined a lot of background script code. February 6, 2007: - Game hours now pass in 33% less time (to speed the passage of the days). - Phases of the moon now influence some things in Aenea, especially for wolfbloods and followers of Prizimal. - Added several items to the game related to time and the sun and moons. - Updated sphere of denial to display the results of the Discipline check to avoid being knocked down. February 2, 2007: - Fixed a bug related to new alcoholic drinks and a quest. - Drinking blood now heals vampires (and is still needed for them to rest). - Vampires are now hurt by healing spells and the herbs in healing kits. - Vampires and shadow children now regenerate at night, but not during the day. January 30, 2007: - Added a minor quest. - Added a few patrons to the Sleeping Dragon Inn that will mention rumors and information if you are having a drink. - Revamped alcohol use in the game. There are now 6 "strengths" of alcohol, and each carries a risk of making the drinker intoxicated and/or an alcoholic. See the forum for more details. - Freed up inventory space by replacing 4 "info crystals" with 1. January 17, 2007: - Fixed minor issues with new Alatha area (door to temple of Prizimal, missing portal). - Toughened up some monsters in Alatha. - Fixed a problem with some items so that they are now limited to followers of certain deities (as they should have been). January 16, 2007: - Added a new section for mid-high level characters, the old city of Alatha. It can be reached by ship. - Fixed a bug with some new magical cloaks. January 8, 2007: - Fixed a conflict between cleric powers and subraces. - Altered the spell immunities of clerics of Mystara (from level based to school based). - Fixed monster spawning issue in the catacombs near the border of Nektaria and the Shieldlands. January 5, 2007: - Added pack oxen that PCs can purchase to carry heavy gear. - Fixed several minor bugs. - Added several new items. |
