|
As part of the studies for the Middle Ages and Renaissance, all 6th grade students will be required to build a model of a medieval castle. This castle will be brought to school on the due date and displayed for several days before being brought home. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Castle Requirements: Size: The castle should be large enough to show details of many parts of the castle, but small enough for one or two students to carry into the classroom in one piece. The castle needs to be able to fit through the door. Parts: The castle should display the major parts of a castle. Each part should be clearly labeled so that anyone viewing it can understand what the parts are and what they did for the castle. Movement: The castle will have at least one moving part that uses one or more of the eight simple machines studied in Science class: Inclined plane Wedge Screw Wheel and axle Pulley Lever Castle Type: The model will be of a medieval castle designed to keep enemies out, not a fairy-tale or Disneyland style castle. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Due Date: The castles will be brought to school on the morning of Tuesday, March 11. Castles will not be accepted before that day. Castles turned in after that day will be considered late and lose 10% of possible points per day.
