The Neverwinter Nights Community Site is the unofficial homepage for the Neverwinter Nights game. Created for the NWN gaming community, it is filled with useful knowledge and resources gathered from over 15 years of players' and builders' experiences.

Prospective Players:

You can download Neverwinter Nights at gog.com, or Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition from beamdog.com. You get the full game, plus both expansions, plus a premium module, plus access to all the free community-made content (multiple online worlds, hundreds of single-player modules (adventures), additional game-enhancing content, and more), adding up to thousands of hours worth of gaming entertainment.

After the initial purchase, Neverwinter Nights is free to play...forever. There are no monthly subscriptions, no fees for accessing the best content, and no costs for getting the most out of the game (advance as far as you can on any server or in any adventure).

Important News:

GameSpy has stopped supporting the listing of multiplayer NWN servers. When connecting to an internet game, the list of servers will be blank. You can still use the "history" tab for playing on servers you've previously logged into, and you can still direct connect if you have a server's IP address.

Members of the Neverwinter Nights community have created a means to replace the in-client server listings using NWNCX version 0.2.9 and later (for Windows). The quickest way to get listed through this is for a server admin to make a change to the hosts file or to use the serverlist NWNX2 plugin.

You can also find an web-based list of active servers at NWNList Scry.

Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition has its own, in-game multiplayer server list that is fully functional.

What is Neverwinter Nights?

Neverwinter Nights (NWN) is both a single player and a multiplayer Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game (RPG). It is by far the closest thing there is to a true D&D game on the computer.

As a player, you are able to choose what skills and abilities you will develop as you voyage though the complex and dangerous fantasy world of Forgotten Realms. Be a deadly and dangerous rogue moving through the shadows using stealth and secrecy, be a scholarly wizard and wield powerful magic against your enemies, be a hulking barbarian whose lust for battle is matched only by his terrible rage, be an armor-clad paladin who protects the innocent and vanquishes his foes, be a crusading cleric who heals the sick and defends the helpless…be all this and more.

Neverwinter Nights allows you to create your own worlds. This revolutionary game comes with all the tools needed to construct your own unique lands of adventure. The Neverwinter Nights Aurora Toolset allows even novice users to construct everything from a quiet, misty forest, to a dripping cavern of foul evil, to a king's court. All the monsters, items, set pieces and settings are there for world builders to use. But do not stop there; construct traps, encounters, custom monsters, and magic items to make your adventure unique. Countless new additions to the game, created by the NWN community, are also available to add to your adventures.

Multiplayer Neverwinter Nights

With almost any type of internet connection (yes, even dial-up), Neverwinter Nights can be played online with up to 64 friends or other people, all sharing in the adventure.

You can organize and run your own adventures through the role of the Dungeon Master and control all the monsters, creatures and characters your friends meet as they journey on their quest. A powerful piece of software that is included with Neverwinter Nights, the DM Client, allows nearly unlimited control for running your own adventures for your friends.

There are also many online gameworlds (called persistent worlds, or PWs) for you to explore, created by both new and experienced module builders. Many of these multiplayer servers are available 24 hours a day for anyone to log into and begin playing. There are servers available to fit practically any type of gamer, from always-in-character roleplaying games to straight up hack and slash action styles, from published world based locations (such as the Forgotten Realms, Ravenloft, and even Lord of the Rings) to completely original worlds created by players, from magical fantasy worlds to modern and science fiction based settings.

Single Player Neverwinter Nights

Neverwinter Nights is also a single player game, which can be used to play both officially published and community-made adventures (called modules).

Neverwinter Nights (original campaign) - Set in and around the Forgotten Realms city of Neverwinter, this adventure has the Player Character (PC) assuming the role of an aspiring hero. The city of Neverwinter is suffering from a magical plague called the Wailing Death, which is killing its citizens. The hero must both find a cure, and discover the source of the disease.

Shadows of Undrentide - In this adventure, the hero undertakes a quest to Netherese ruins in the dangerous Anauroch Desert, seeking to have an ancient relic identified. Someone, or something, else wants the relic for an unknown purpose.

Hordes of the Underdark - Beneath the great city of Waterdeep is the labyrinth known as Undermountain. Just after the hero arrives in the city, trouble begins to well up from this underground place, pushed by denizens of the Underdark. This adventure leads into epic level (20+) development.

Community Made Adventures - Because the game is incredibly open to customization thanks to the easy to use toolset and community invovlement, there are thousands of free single player modules available for download, many rivaling and surpassing the quality of the officially released campaigns. Most of these can be downloaded from the Neverwinter Vault site.

Neverwinter Nights...endless adventure!
