Holy Days and Events

Described below are some of the days holy to different priesthoods. Also included are various annual events in different lands.
Orctoberfest
9th day of
Midsummer
This is an annual festival day in the city of Alatha. It celebrates the end of the Orc Wars almost 100 years ago. It is a day of feasting, drinking, games, and parties. The entire city gets involved in the good times.

It should be noted that the city guards are especially wary during this time, since they want people to have fun, not get into fights or commit crimes.


King's Day
10th day of
Midsummer
This is a day celebrating the birth of Alatha's king, Harold III. A large public breakfast is held in his honor, followed by a day of games and contests. The day culminates in a joust of knights, the winner of which receives a ceremonial dagger from the king.
Andra's Unfolding
1st day of
Springdawn
On the first day of each year, the priests of Andra celebrate the beginning of spring, and the start of the yearly cycle of life. This is the most holy of days for the druids, and is spent in prayer and communion with nature.

During this entire day, no druid will be found within sight of a town, village, or city. If possible, a druid will avoid travel or conflict on this day.


Day of Asis' Glory
1st day of
Springdawn
This is the most holy of days for the priests of Asis. It is a time of celebrating the birth of a new year and the start of the cycle of life. During this day, all of Asis' priests and priestesses celebrate the birth and fertility of all life. Children are blessed and marriages performed in great numbers. It is considered lucky to be born or conceived on this day.
Queen's Festival
20th to the 26th day of
Springdawn
This week long festival celebrates the birth of Ravenport's queen, Talia. Each day, plays are performed, sweets are devoured, entertainers visit from all around, and much fun is had by all. It is during the festival that merchants from far lands often bring their rarest goods.
Rites of Terris
8th day of
Springdusk
This is the single day holy to the priests of Terris. They spend the day praying, surrounded by earth and stone of all sorts. They cannot travel or engage in other activities on this day, and their diety will not grant them spells during this time.
Day of Prizimal's Glory
1st day of
Summerdawn
This is one of the two holiest days for the followers of Prizimals. On this, the longest day of the year, they celebrate their faith in the blazing brightness of Prizimal's power. On this day all of his priests don pure white robes and white make-up. They then spend the day meditating and praying in the sun.

It has never been cloudy or overcast on this day.


Festival of Arts
8th to the 14th day of
Summerdawn
This week long festival is held every year in the city of Ravenport. It honors Jewel, patron goddess of the arts. The week is filled with feasts, and entertainment of every artistic nature.

The festival is held in Ravenport due to the fact that Jewel has been known to visit that city on many occasions...even during the festival.


Rites of Conflagral
8th day of
Summerdusk
This is the single day holy to the priests of Conflagral. They spend the day praying, surrounded by flames of any sort (candles, lanterns, campfires). They cannot travel or engage in other activities on this day, and their diety will not grant them spells during this time.
Borzig's Feast
1st day of
Midautumn
This day marks the end of the growing season, and is a holy day for the priests of Borzig. On this day, crops are blessed before harvesting and storehouses are blessed before being filled. Feasts are held in honor of Borzig as people give him thanks for the coming harvest.
Rites of Typhis
8th day of
Autumndusk
This is the single day holy to the priests of Typhis. They spend the day praying, surrounded by wind and open air. They cannot travel or engage in other activities on this day, and their diety will not grant them spells during this time.
Night of Prizimal's Glory
1st day of
Winterdawn
This is one of the two holiest days for the followers of Prizimals. On this, the longest night of the year, they celebrate their faith in the blinding darkness of Prizimal's power. On this day all of his priests don pure black robes and black make-up. They then spend the night meditating and praying in shadows.

It has never been clear or sunny on this day.


Rites of Aquar
8th day of
Winterdusk
This is the single day holy to the priests of Aquar. They spend the day praying, surrounded by water. They cannot travel or engage in other activities on this day, and their diety will not grant them spells during this time.
Night of the Warrior's Sacrifice
19th day of
Winterdusk
This night is a holy time for the followers of Torgat. It is a time of peaceful prayer, during which warriors of all sorts give thought to what they have given up in persuit of battle. Prayers are given to Torgat, the god who gave up his life with his family and loved ones when he became the god of war.
Night of Zolaras' Prime
28th day of
Winterdusk
This is the most holy of days for the priestesses of Zolaras. It marks the death of a year and the end of life's annual cycle. On this night, prayers are offered in remembrance of those who have died.
