Items and Objects: Armor For most adventurers, armor is a fact of life. It protects them from injury by enemies, and can range from the lightest and mundane to the heaviest and layered in magic. In Aenea, the use of armor is modified in several ways. Sleep: If a character chooses to sleep while wearing armor, he or she may awaken with fewer hitpoints. Sleeping in armor causes a small amount of damage, equal to the armor check penalty of the armor, to the wearer to reflect the discomfort felt while armored. Skills: Aenea makes use of several "background coded" skills. Several of these are negatively impacted by wearing armor. Balance, Climb, Jump, and Swim checks are affected by the armor check penalty or weight of armor worn. Damage Absorbing: Armor not only makes it more difficult to damage a character in Aenea (via the standard AC mechanics), it can also absorb part of the damage that would have normally been inflicted on the wearer. The amount and type of damage absorbed depends on the base armor, and is controlled via temporary properties added to the armor when it is donned.
