A character's race determines abilities, prefered classes, and can contribute to role-playing. Characters in Aenea can be a member of one of the standard 7 NWN/D&D races, and have the option of picking a subrace from any of those base races. Note: In Aenea, the halfling race is renamed the "fae", and they are distance descendants of faeries or other fey creatures. In terms of appearance and game mechanics, they are still the same as halflings. Characters with subraces gain several benefits over normal members of the same base race, in exchange for possible weaknesses. All subraces involve a reduction in gained experience, resulting in slightly slower advancement in levels. Subraces are selected in-game when first entering the World of Aenea. A new character is taken through several steps for "character creation", one of which is the selection of a subrace (or no subrace). Any subrace information entered during regular character creation (before entering the server) is ignored. The subraces pages, listed in the menu to the left, include information and/or a screenshot describing a typical member of that subrace. Players wishing to role-play a character's subrace are encouraged to select a skin and hair color that will show off the character's subrace. Some races have general social leanings, but like any population, there are going to be individuals that differ from the norm. Drow that adventure on the surface world are just one example. Base races are at the top of the list to the left. Subraces (preceeded by a period) follow. Follow the links on the left to learn more about the races and subraces. |
