Items and Objects: Visual Effects (VFX) Items

Aenea features several items that, instead of using a normal model appearance, instead are replaced with special visual effects.

Circlets:

The most common type of VFX item are the various circlets and headbands. A headband of acumen (formerly called the headband of intellect +2) is one example of these. When the helmet item is equipped, it is quickly removed and replaced with a visual effect aligned to the head of the character's race and gender. The properties of the headband are added to the character's "skin" item (called "PC Properties"), so the character gains the benefits of the item (such as additional spell slots and higher save DCs) even if it isn't technically worn.

The VFX headband must be removed before equipping another helmet or head VFX item (like another circlet or a pair of magical lenses). To do this, simply equip the original helm item again, then it, the VFX, and the additional properties will be removed.

Lenses:

Much like the circlets, there are also VFX lenses that a character can equip. These function exactly the same, taking up the head equipment slot without actually replacing the character's head model (which is the standard behavior for helmets...they don't cover the head, they replace it). Examples of these would be eyes of minute seeing.
