Dwarf

Dwarves in Aenea are known for their knowledge of metals and gemstones, their hard-working spirit, their bravery in battle, their ability to withstand physical and magical punishment, and their capacity for drinking ale. Dwarves are generally stern folk, but appreciate rough humor. They are generous to those who earn their trust, and often value the honor of their clans and their own personal honor. They stand just 4 to 4 1/2 feet tall, but are broad and compactly built, almost as wide as they are tall. Dwarven men value their beards highly, and take pride in growing one that fits their personality. A beard on a dwarven woman is considered a sign of beauty.

In Aenean societies, dwarves get along reasonably well with pretty much anyone that doesn't bother them. They see halflings as a bit too leisurely for their taste, but will often go out of their way to enjoy a halfling-cooked meal. Dwarves tend to see gnomes as mildly crazy, yet value their insight into life closer to the surface world. Elves are seen by most dwarves as rather aloft and cool-headed, but are respected for their crafting skills and their combat skills. Humans and half-elves are valued for their farming skills and their ingenuity. Dwarves see half-orcs as a mixed bunch, either to be hated and opposed (as allies of orcs), or to be pitied (as the unfortunate offspring of an unwilling human), or respected (as powerful warriors fighting against the orcs). In general, dwarves despise orcs and goblins, and dwarven warriors will battle such foes whenever the opportunity is available.

Ability Adjustments:
+2 to Constitution
-2 to Charisma
- Dwarves are hearty and robust, but their gruff demeanor can hamper socializing with others.
