Gnome

Gnomes in Aenea are in wide demand as alchemists, inventors, merchants, and sometimes as illusionists, though most prefer to remain among their own kind in simple comfort. Gnomes adore animals, gems, and jokes. They love to learn by personal experience, and are always trying new ways to do things. Gnomes stand 3 to 3 1/2 feet tall, with skin that ranges from light tan to woody brown. Males favor carefully-trimmed beards. Gnomes live 350 to 500 years.

Gnomes in Aenea are generally a matriarchal society, and gnomish women often take on multiple husbands to help with building farms and businesses and for aid in raising children. It is not uncommon for a gnomish woman to marry younger males as their older husbands age. Many gnomes are part of merchant families, and males are often tasked with the daily operation of such businesses. Some gnomish families are nomadic, moving from one region to the next.

Gnomes tend to get along with everyone. They often view elves as a little bit stuffy and serious, while getting along great with halflings and dwarves. They see humans and half-elves as almost like them, only taller. Half-orcs are often viewed either as potential bullies, or as great guards and workers. Aenean gnomes often come into conflict with goblins and kobolds, since they like to explore caves near the surface, but otherwise hold no great emnity with anyone.

Ability Adjustments:
+2 to Constitution
-2 to Strength
- Gnomes are very healthy, but they are not as strong as larger people.
